Stratton Lane is a family owned micro-brewery run by Barnaby and Bernadette Wheller with their two children.
Having both run businesses in the past, Barnaby was looking for a new challenge (and seemingly hunting for a sneaky way to get more beer into his working day). So, for Valentine’s day he persuaded Bernadette that what she really wanted was a micro-brewery! Shortly after, a plan was hatched, equipment bought, and a lease signed.
That was the easy bit! Two months of blood, sweat and tears followed, learning the ropes, mega amounts of research, creating their lovely Tap Room (how many coats of dark blue paint do we need?) and getting the brew refined. They opened their doors over the Easter weekend of 2019.
Since then there have been highs, lows and learning curves that would thrill the biggest fan of wild roller coasters. There is a long way to go on their journey but thanks to massive support from amazing friends they are producing beers they’re are proud to show off.
Why not drop in and try their great session beers in the courtyard which is an amazing suntrap in the summer months or take a seat under cover in our taproom a unique setting of the brewery – the ‘engine’ room where all the alchemy happens!
